Why Trilingual?

Call Us Now!
Montessori 3-6 is New Zealand's first Trilingual Montessori Pre-School and the only one offering English, Te Reo and Spanish to children in Hawke's Bay. As New Zealand becomes more diverse it is crucial that our children learn about other languages and cultures from an early age so they become respectful of everyone.

English - Our team support children to develop their oral language and children who stay for news have opportunities to learn to listen, speak and respond in a positive, supportive environment. We start following the children's interest using a phonics approach and lots of Montessori games that making learning fun. We have a sequential range of specific Montessori materials for gifted learners that lead to spelling, writing and reading providing a solid foundation before school.

Te Reo - To give children an appreciation of te reo as a living and relevant language and an official language of Aotearoa. Our teaching team all have specific Montessori materials that they teach our children as per the goal sheets in their individual Te Reo curriculum books.   Te Rangihau Gilbert visits Tuesday afternoons with his guitar to teach waiata and Kapa Haka.

Spanish - To give children an introduction to an international language. Spanish is an official language in 22 countries making it the second most spoken language in the world! Ana Silvia is our native speaker and teaches all day Wednesdays.

We have had children travelling from Puketapu, Eskdale and Whirinaki to be part of Montessori 3-6. Ask us about the individual goal setting we create with each child and look through our photo albums when you visit. Minimum Enrolment from just 9 hours per week through to fulltime.

Montessori 3-6 is a place where children have fun, develop friendships and love learning.

At Montessori 3-6 we believe that every child deserves to have their learning extended so each child has individualised goals for each curriculum area.
Our indoor and outdoor Trilingual Montessori environments are prepared with Montessori materials and enriching games and activities which make learning fun and "hands-on".

We encourage children to be kind, gentle, patient, helpful and independent through our positive guidance practices, The Virtues Project and the Essential Elements from the Montessori Journey to Excellence.
